Take care of tomorrow today

Mar 10, 2026
Free Wills Month is back - so if you haven’t written your will yet, now is the perfect time.

Railway Benefit Fund, supported by Railpen, is offering a free will‑writing service throughout March 2026.

The offer is open to current, former and retired railway workers, as well as their families.

Writing a will is the best way to ensure your wishes for your estate are honoured. It allows you to look after the people and causes you care about, and it can help reduce confusion or stress for your loved ones at an already difficult time.

How it works

Between 1 and 31 March, you can create a basic will - or update an existing one - at no cost to you.

The service is delivered by will‑writing specialists My Intent, and follows 3 simple steps:

  1. Record your intent - tell My Intent about your circumstances and what you want your will to achieve
  2. Review their online advice - look through their tailored online guidance and choose how you’d like to proceed.
  3. Receive your will – My Intent prepares your will and sends it to you for signing

To get started, visit the Railway Benefit Fund website

Remember: your RPS pension isn’t covered by your will

Your will does not determine who receives any death benefits from your British Transport Police Force Superannuation Fund pension. These benefits are paid in line with Scheme rules and the decisions of the Trustee.

Make sure your nominations are up to date

By making a nomination, you can tell the Trustee who you’d like any lump‑sum death benefits to go to if you die before you claim your pension.

It’s quick and easy to do this via  your myFund account. When you log in, go to ‘My Pension’, then click on ‘My Nominations’.

If you prefer, you can complete and return a paper nomination form instead.

Please remember to update your nominations whenever your circumstances change.
